Summer is a time for outdoor adventures, lots of water play, making new friends, and learning new skills. Toddlers through preschoolers will find a world of excitement and adventure in our summer programs. Days are filled with field trips, special programs that encourage self discovery, and visits from our animal friends. A Child's Place has summer programs for young twos through almost kindergarten kids. We maintain the same high standards of care and caring found in our school year programs while making sure that every child enjoys the special pleasures that only summer can provide.


staff1SUMMER PROGRAMS

The Dolphins (young twos) program is designed for the younger twos who will be entering our program in the fall. Our children need plenty of individual attention making this transition from the small society of the home to the still small but significantly larger society of children and teachers. We will provide the children with plenty of individualized attention in making their transition by maintaining a high staff ratio of 1 teacher to every 3 children. There will be a total of 8 children in this class.  

Whales are children just turning three who still needs plenty of individualized attention. This will be provided by our high staff ratio of 1 teacher to every 3 children. Some of the planned program highlights include outdoor sprinkler fun, special visits from farm animals and exotic birds, building sand castles, a P.J party, cooking projects, music and movement, an all school dance party, arts and crafts, library time, and more. Be prepared to have fun!

The Sharks program is designed for three year olds who are rapidly growing into eager preschoolers. During the Three’s stage of development children are filled with curiosity and exploration. To encourage and develop these wonders the children will have one special a week. Specials may include a trip to the beach for shell collecting, water play, and sand castle building, a hands-on visit to an ice-cream parlor, a visit with exotic birds and more.

Sea Turtles received rave reviews the past three summers.  This program is designed to meet the needs of children who are 4 years old by December 31st.  Grouping of children will be 3 counselors for 18 children.  Many activities will be incorporated into your child’s day. Possible themes that will be explored during the summer months will be sea life, an all school carnival, and wet and wild! Sea Turtles can participate in an extended day, Adventure Club Program until 3:30 p.m. 

The Star Fish program is designed to meet the needs of children entering Kindergarten in September or who are going to be 5 years old by December 31st. Grouping of children is 3 counselors for 20 children. Weekly field trips includ visiting the Maritime Aquarium, ice-cream making, mini golf, bowling, and more!  We are also very excited about the science discovery program in our Friday schedule.  Star Fish can participate in an extended day, Adventure Club Program until 3:30 p.m.
